Breeding sites of dengue-carriers identified By Hermie B. Tresquio
VALENCIA, Oriental Negros -- Health inspectors identified two more breeding sites of the dengue-carrying mosquitoes with the intensified anti-dengue campaign of the Municipal Rural Health Unit in the municipality.
The latest inspection conducted first week of October found that Purok Okra in Bong-ao and Purok 3 in East Balabag were positive of aedes aegypti, the mosquito that carries the deadly dengue virus.
Cases of dengue in the municipality is continuing to rise, bringing the total number to 32 as of August based on the monthly trend report of the Integrated Provincial Health Office.
The inspection team was composed of Cole Abad, representative from the provincial office of the Department of Health, Wilson Calumpang, municipal sanitary inspector, and Edna Solamillo of the municipal health unit of Valencia.
Early this year, Valencia Mayor Rodolfo Gonzalez, Jr. declared every first Saturday of every month as clean-up day to lessen the number of dengue cases.
