Capitol, City Hall to increase workers' pay
By Maricar Aranas

THE Provincial Government and the Dumaguete City Hall are ready to increase the salaries of their employees next year.

The City Government has already allocated P6 million in its proposed 2006 budget and is awaiting only the directive from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on how to go about the pay hike.

Governor George Arnaiz said the Provincial Government is also poised to give the salary hike and would give it once DBM clarified whether the increase would be based on the percentage system or across-the-board.

Like Mayor Agustin Perdices, Arnaiz favors an across-the-board increase so that all employees could get equal and fair shares.

The governor explained that the percentage system would not be fair to employees receiving low pay.
