Duscians represents C. Visayas in NAMCYA nat'l tilt By Maricar Aranas
REGIONAL winners, Dumaguete Science High School (DSHS), are all set to leave next week for Manila for the NAMCYA national competition on November 25 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The 30-member DSHS contingent out-sang their competitors in the regional competition recently to grab the right to represent Central Visayas in the national championship.
Since winning the regional title, the group has been on rigid training under music professor Susan Elizabeth Vista-Suarez and conductress Felilia Jatico of the School of Performing Arts of Silliman University. Suarez is noted as an expert music teacher.
Meanwhile, DSHS principal Rosalina Banquerigo assured that the participating students would not be remiss in their class requirements while practicing for and participating in the national music competition.
She said the students' priority is to study and learn.
To make sure they would not miss on their learning, Banquerigo said, the participants would be given a special make-up graded activity and assignments while they were preparing for the competition.
The principal said that the school had to maintain academic excellence despite the honor to be the regional representative to the national NAMCYA competition.
After all, she explained, DSHS has been acknowledged as one of the top high schools in Negros Oriental.
