Cruztelco line stolen anew By Hermie B. Tresquio
WIRE thieves struck anew cutting a 20-meter segment of the cable line of Cruz Telephone Company (Cruztelco) near the Talay health center along the Dumaguete City-Valencia road.
The theft was discovered 10:00 Wednesday morning following a report from telephone linemen responding to complaints by subscribers in Barangay Talay in Dumaguete City and Valencia.
Cruztelco manager Abraham Bernardez estimated the cost of the stolen 200-pair cable wire at P100,000.
Last September, four unidentified wire thieves slashed and stole a 100-pair 30-meter segment of Cruztelco's telephone cable wire in Barangays Junob and Bajumpandan.
Bernardez estimated the cost of the stolen line at P300,00.
Some 50 subscribers were initially affected by the theft.
Neighbors in the area said they heard two motorcycles crisscrossing the area past 1:00 in the morning but had not been suspicious about the goings-on.
