More jobs for OFWs in Middle East
By Rachel M. Nessia

THE Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) announced that more jobs await Filipinos in the Middle East, which it sees as continuing to remain the biggest source of employment in the next three years.

Labor Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas said most of the job opportunities would be in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Lebanon, Israel, Libya, and Jordan.

Sto. Tomas said the country's labor offices would pursue marketing strategies to ensure the Filipino workers' access to the jobs.

Dole projected a total of almost 259,000 jobs in Middle East in the next three years.

Filipinos working in these countries totaled more than 347,000, last year, representing almost half of the total land-based Filipinos deployed abroad.

Available works would be in the construction, medical, tourism, retail, information technology sectors, household work, and care giving.
