Korean missionary loses P10T to snatchers By Syril G. Repe and Hermie B. Tresquio
THE Dumaguete City police warned the public against exposing their bags, wallets, cellphones, and other valuables on the streets following a snatching incident along Cervantes street that victimized a Korean missionary Saturday afternoon.
Choi Nan Sum, of legal age, temporary residing at Piñero subdivision in Melrose, Barangay Mangnao, told police she was crossing the street to her parked car when a motorcycle with two riders appeared.
The backseat rider then snatched the wallet she was holding after which the motorcycle sped away.
Choi said her wallet contained P10,000, driver's license, a BPI ATM card, missionary license, and keys of her car and house.
Meanwhile, hours after the incident, motorcycle bandits struck again divesting the bag of a 16-year-old nursing student of Silliman University.
Police identified the victim as Jane Dianne Sabandal, 16, of San Jose Village in Barangay Banilad.
Sabandal said they were onboard their motorcycle with her mother driving it and was on their way home when upon reaching in front of the Cathedral bell tower along Perdices street, a motorcycle with two unidentified men edged close and the back rider snatched her bag.
The bag contained her Nokia 3315 cellphone and school materials.
