GSIS announcement to retired gov't workers
GOVERNMENT employees who have previously retired and later re-entered government service before June 24, 1997 can retire again with full service credit if they refunded the benefits they previously received.
This was disclosed by Ma. Erlinda P. Roma, department manager of the Fovernment Service Insurance System (GSIS) in Negros Oriental.
Roma explained that except for the gratuity benefit they received under Republic Act. No. 1616, the gross amount would be assessed a corresponding simple interest at two percent per month.
"This is computed from the date the said benefits were paid to the employee up to the actual date of his or her refund to the GSIS of the said benefits," she said.
The employees have up to March 1, 2006 to refund in full to GSIS the applicable benefits they received from their previous retirement or separation. (Press release/PIA Infobytes)
