Senate tackles measure for 4 Negros Oriental districts
By Edmund Sestoso

THE Senate is posed to start floor deliberations of a House bill that would add one more district to Negros Oriental's three districts.

The approved House bill is jointly authored by representatives Jacinto Paras of the 1st Emilio Macias II of the 2nd district, and Herminio Teves of the 3rd district.

The bill aims to reapportion Negros Oriental's congressional districts and the Provincial Board seats.

Senator Alfredo Lim, chairman of the committee on local governments, held last week a public hearing on the proposal.

The House bill reapportions the first district to compose Canlaon City, Vallehermoso, Guihulngan, La Libertad, and Jimalalud.

The second district would consist of Tayasan, Ayungon, Bindoy, Manjuyod, Bais City and Mabinay.

The third district would include Pamplona, Tanjay City, Amlan, San Jose, Sibulan, Dumaguete City, and valencia and the fourth district would cover Bacong, Dauin, Zamboanguita, Siaton, Sta. Catalina, Basay, and Bayawan City.

With the reapportionment of the legislative districts, the Provincial Board would be allocated with 14 seats, three seats each for the 1st and 2nd districts and four seats each for the 3rd and 4th districts.
