City schools brace for Brigada Eskwela By Maricar Aranas
ALL public schools under the Dumaguete division have begun preparations for the scheduled Brigada Eskwela, which would be held simultaneously nationwide on May 15 to 25.
Dumaguete schools division superintendent Dr. Profetiza Lim said she has instructed all school principals to inventory all their school equipment and facilities that needed to be repaired or improved.
Lim said the city school board has allotted an undetermined amount to buy the materials for the school brigade.
Under the program, teachers and parents would join hand to repair school equipment and facilities to prepare for the opening of classes next month.
In the past years, the brigade helped build waiting sheds inside campuses, gardens, and paint classrooms, among others.
Lim urged parents with children enrolled in any public elementary of high schools to join the brigade.
She said the division has received donated snacks and money to buy materials to repair school buildings.
Lim clarified that the division has not solicited contributions from parents because the activity is voluntary.
