Education in the midst of crisis By Neileen Emperado-Wale
KNOWING and facing the problems in the country today, everyone must be vigilant for any opportunity that comes his or her way. It has been said, and I say it again, "poverty is never a hindrance to education."
School mentors have responsibilities and duties to provide opportunities to their students to prove their worth and face challenges to allow them equal and worthy of themselves.
The government must be serious in its efforts to raise the resources for education, including improving teachers' welfare to make them stay focused on teaching and make the school a real learning community where people continuously plan, observe, review, and reflect on their performances to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Teachers can provide these opportunities to students so they can experience learning as an enjoyable and delighting process.
The concern for addressing learning stems from acknowledging the parents' involvement in the process. Serious follow-up must follow at home for learning to take place. Parents must be involved in their children's education.
Since individuals make up a community and communities make up a country, then learned individuals' complement the social-economic development of a community and a country.
Educators, parents, and students should have the support of most, if not all, of the learning resources for good instruction.
Desired educational aspirations can be achieved if educators exercised their professional knowledge and skills to help learners.
A better education makes a better nation.
