Board okays Bayawan to buy 14 hectares for landfill

THE Provincial Board recently approved a Bayawan City ordinance that would authorize Mayor German Saraña to exercise his power of eminent domain to acquire more than 14 hectares for a sanitary landfill.

The ordinance allots P3 million or as may be needed to be taken from the Economic Development Fund of the city to spent for expropriation proceedings.

The Bayawan City Government planned to expropriate an area of 143,817 square meters covered by seven titles Barangay Maninihon.

The ordinance directs the city engineer to prepare and submit the site development plan of the property that will be used primarily to build the landfill to comply with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.

It may be also be used for public purpose in the future, if necessary.
