King's gambit chess showdown set By Syril G. Repe
REED & Balansag (R&B) Real Estate Partnership Investment has offered P4,200 worth of prizes for the King's Gambit Open Lawn Tournament for 20-undr and 14-under young entries at the Negros Club 64, Lawn Chess park in Capitol Area.
The tournament reels off on May 27.
Club officer Florendo Zamora said the event will give young men and women in Negros Oriental the opportunity to pit their mind skills during the showdown.
The showdown involves pushing the first piece of white pawn into the King's area to open the White King to a black piece attack.
Zamora said the tournament would be the first in a monthly series and thanked R&B for sponsoring it.
"Akong gi-awhag ang tanang mga batan-on sa pag-apil niining dakong kalihukan sa pa-ugnat sa pangisip karong bulan sa Mayo," Zamora said.
Games will be played in the Five-Swiss System to be finished in two days.
