'Politicking' blamed for stalled '06 budget By Maricar Aranas
DAUIN, Negros Oriental -- Mayor Rodrigo Alanano blamed early 'politicking' within the municipal council for the delayed passage of the 2006 budget.
"Sayo ra kaayo (too early)," Alanano said.
The situation, he said, meant that the Municipal Government would not be able to implement new projects and programs for the municipality.
Alanano has been at odds with majority of his former party mates in the municipal council.
But he stressed that he was continuing to implement projects and programs and the delivery of basic services to the people.
The mayor said his administration was presently using the reenacted budget.
Alanano accused the municipal council of disrespect against his position as mayor when it changed many provisions of the budget without consulting him.
The 2006 budget covers priority programs and projects that would ensure the continuing development of the municipality, he added.
