City eyes alternative wastewater treatment plant
By Maricar Aranas

THE City Government plans to use the burned city court site as an alternative to the wastewater treatment facility in Barangay Camanjac.

Mayor Agustin Perdices said the facility would help absorb and treat the wastewater from the public market, City Hall, and if possible, he said, those of Holy Child Hospital.

Perdices said the City Government plans to build the City Hall site first because it was cheaper compared to the Camanjac project.

He believes the burning of the building in 2004 was a “blessing in disguise” because it turned out that the site could be used to host the water treatment facility.

Unlike the Camanjac plant, the mayor said, the court site project would be closed because it is in a commercial site and could be used for other purposes.

Perdices hoped the project would start this year and be finished by December.

At the moment, he said, the City Government was scavenging for funds to meet the expected cost of more than P6 million.

Vice Mayor William Ablong said the wastewater treatment plant would be similar to that of Muntinlupa City that has a capacity for 75 cubic meters of wastewater and cost P6.7 million.

The city public market disposes an estimated 80 cubic meters of wastewater daily, Ablong added.
