PMA 2007 cadets wow Dumaguete with silent drill, skydiving By Neil C. Rio
RESIDENTS of Dumaguete City and neighboring towns had the time of their life on Independence Day when the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class Maragtas 2007 treated them to a silent drill and skydiving at the Silliman University ball field.
Thousands of students, parents, and children filled the ball field perimeter as they watched the daring skydiving exhibition headed by Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial command chaplain Reverend Ronnie Arong, Dumaguete City police chief Dionardo Carlos, and city policeman Ric Pajarito.
Governor George Arnaiz who was among the crowd of enthusiastic Negrenses, commented after the exhibitions that the PMA exhibition was "very much entertaining" and hoped it would encourage more recruits to the country's premier military training school.
Arnaiz said he was proud that among the PMA cadets were five from Negros Oriental.
Earlier in the day the cadets joined the 108th Independence Day celebration of Dumaguete City at Quezon Park.
The PMA cadets' visit is part of their ongoing educational tour.
The Negros Oriental leg brought them to the PNOC-EDC complex in Valencia and the Dyno Nobel in Bacong.
PNP Regional Director Silverio Alarcio, Jr. hosted the cadets for the duration of their stay in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.
