43 Tindahan Natin accredited By Rachel M. Nessia
A TOTAL of 43 Tindahan Natin outlets are now operating in Negros Oriental.
The accredited stores are located in 56 barangays and are serving 9,608 families across the province, said Rolando Lazalita, information officer of the National Food Authority (NFA) in Negros Oriental.
The outlets are mostly found in Bindoy, Vallehermoso, Amlan, Pamplona, San Jose, Tanjay City, Bacong, and Bayawan City.
Handog sa Parokya Tindahan Natin outlets are also in Dumaguete City and Dauin.
The project was launched in the province on June 20, 2006 at the Tindahan Natin of Nanette de la Cruz of Poblacion, Amlan.
Undersecretary Celia C. Yangco, NFA regional director Teodulo R. Romo Jr., Amlan Mayor Bentham de la Cruz, mayors of different towns, and guests attended the launching.
NFA provincial manager Marianito Bejemino reminded operators that the burden of maintaining rice prices at P18 per kilogram rests with NFA.
Bejemino said operators must ensure that families living below the food threshold get access to low-priced basic food items, especially rice.
