DAR turns over P1.6M deep tube wells
By Victor L. Camion

FARMER beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp) once again benefited from the help of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in the form of three additional deep tube wells.

The wells were turned over recently to the Bayawan City Government for the beneficiaries.

The project is part of the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support II (ARISP) and costs P1,657,388, Aileen Alaban, provincial DAR information officer, said.

Alaban said Bayawan City put up 30 percent as equity for the project.

She said the three deep tube wells (DTW) are part of the 25 units DAR was building under the ARISP II project.

DAR-ARISP has completed and turned over 15 deep tube wells (DTW) as of August 2006 with 92.22 percent physical accomplishment.

"The Rural Water Supply (RWS) is projected to improve the health condition of our farmer beneficiaries particularly in Barangay Narra," Alaban said.

The project was approved for implementation last June 25, 2004.

Present at the turn over were Bayawan City Mayor German Sarana, Vice Mayor Rene Gaudiel, City Engineer Mike Mananquil, ARISP II Project Manager Engineer Gerry Gumalo, MARO Beethoven Melodia, and some DAR provincial staff.
