Pinoy NGO in Germany donates medical supplies
By Victor L. Camion

A FILIPINO non-government organization based in Germany turned over Monday eight boxes of medical supplies to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital (NOPH).

Nanette Tindoc, an officer of the German NGO Sampaguita Deutsch-Philippinischer Club, said the medical supplies consisted of hospital instruments and consumables, gauze bandages, injection needles, blades, oxygen masks, catheters, and surgical equipment donated by the German Ministry of Defense.

Tindoc handed over the hospital supplies to Dr. Felix Sy, who represented NOPH and the Provincial Integrated Health Office in a simple ceremony at the NOPH Medical Conference Room.

She said the donation was just a start and the NGO hoped to extend more humanitarian assistance to Negros Oriental.

The Sampaguita Deutsch-Philippinischer Club facilitated the donation and shipping of the medical supplies from the German Ministry of Defense through NGO founder Araceli Bejar-Heimann, a native of Dumaguete City, and married to a German national who has visited the hospital several times and saw its poor condition and crowded wards.

The German Balikbayan Quality Service forwarded the boxes of medical supplies.

Heimann is a former teacher at Silliman University. She founded the NGO in Germany along with other Filipinos, mostly Filipino women married to German citizens to help the people here particularly Filipino children.
