Therapeutic swimming pool eyed in Baslay hotspring By Maricar Aranas
DAUIN, Negros Oriental -- The Municipal Government has started the project to build a therapeutic swimming pool near the natural hot spring in the upland barangay of Baslay to attract more tourists.
Mayor Rodrigo Alanano said Representative Emilio Macias II (2nd District, Negros Oriental) has already released P100,000 that was used to repair the road leading to the hot spring and has pledged another P100,000 to fully develop the site.
Alanano said Representative Herminio Teves (3rd District) has committed P1.2 million to fully develop the pool and the hot spring after inspecting the potentials of the area.
He said the Municipal Government has set aside P150,000 for the project which he said has been drawing up an average of 100 local and foreign tourists monthly because of the water's sulfuric contents and the spring's healing property.
As part of the plan, cottages would be constructed around the hot spring and concrete steps would be built as pathway leading to the pool.
