Fraulein Sauro received P2,000 plus a certificate of recognition for winning the first prize in the student category.

Jason Cimafranca of Dumaguete City and Ma. Ana Deposoy, of Barangay Magatas, Sibulan won the first and second prize in the community-based category.

Cimafranca won P2,000 cash and certificate of recognition while Deposoy, 12, an elementary student received P1,500 and a certificate of recognition.

The first prize winners in both community youth and student category are automatically eligible to join the regional poster making contest in Cebu City in September.

The regional winner will receive P5,000 cash.

The poster-making contest was conducted by the Central Visayas Reproductive Health Coordinating Council (CVRHCC) in cooperation with the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) with funding from the Visayas Reproductive Health Initiative (VRHI).

VHRI is a project of the Sociology and Anthropology Research Division of the University of San Carlos in Cebu City.

CVRHCC chairman Rene Gaudiel, vice mayor of Bayawan City, said the event aims to encourage a sustainable reproductive health program by increasing the level of awareness of target groups.

Reproductive health is everybody's concern and everybody's responsibility, Gaudiel said.

During the contest the participants were allowed to use any medium to describe ten elements on reproductive health issues.

CVRHCC is composed of representatives from different sectors that include, among others, people's organizations, local government units, health, academe, and the media, under the VHRI program.

In Dumaguete, the media sector member is the Media Advocate for Reproductive Health and Empowerment.
