Thursday, October 19, 2006 Alert raised over illegal drug proliferation during Buglasan By Syril G. Repe
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Negros Oriental is on alert over the expected trafficking and proliferation of illegal drugs with the holding of the more than two-week Buglasan Festival of Festivals on October 13-29.
PDEA Provincial Chief Manuel Sanchez said from experience the number of illegal drug peddlers usually increases during the celebration of fiestas and other festivals.
Sanchez hoped parents would help monitor their children to make sure these would not be involved in illegal drugs use.
He said his men along with the other members of Task Force 24-Hours would be focusing on Barangay Looc and Sitio Canday-ong in Barangay Calindagan where illegal drug peddlers continued to do a brisk trade although it has lessened following the series of buy-bust and other illegal drug operations.
Meanwhile illegal drug operatives arrested Monday a 22-year-old man at the Cadawinonan Housing Project in Barangay Cadawinonan.
Police identified the suspect as Danilo Aglipa.
Aglipa was arrested while turning over a small sachet of shabu to an agent posing as a buyer during a buy-bust operation. The authorities recovered the P200 marked money used in the transaction.
