Capitol workers to get P10k additional cash gift
By Victor L. Camion

THE more than 1,500 employees of the Provincial Government will receive Friday P10,000 each additional cash gift.

Governor George Arnaiz, however, discouraged the provincial employees from selling the additional cash gift.

"Just sacrifice," Arnaiz told employees in a flag ceremony Monday morning adding, "It's how many days to go."

The governor stressed that employees usually sell their cash gift even before it is released every December.

Arnaiz told the employees that the Provincial Board led by Vice Governor Jose Petit Baldado vowed to pass a resolution to authorize him to release P10,000 additional cash to regular and casual employees of the Provincial Government.

The Provincial Board's regular session is Thursday.

The governor also promised to release the amount Friday.

Arnaiz has decided to give the amount because the workers deserve to receive the P10,000 cash gift, said Provincial Board Member Melimore Saycon.

Saycon told Sun.Star Dumaguete that the governor was awarded as outstanding governor because of the prestigious accomplishments of the Provincial Government in cooperation with the members of the Provincial Board, department heads, and workers.

"I would have not received such an award if not with your help," said Arnaiz in a flag ceremony adding, "My only appeal is that we work double time so that our projects will be completed."

Arnaiz wants to finish all projects before his term end in July next year.

Meanwhile, provincial treasurer Danilo Mendez assured that the Provincial Government has enough fund intended for the P10,000 additional cash gift.

The amount is sourced from the savings on personnel service.

Mendez said the Provincial Government has a total surplus of P45 million from the different projects and program this year.

"That is because the governor is strict when it comes to the use of money," said Mendez in a separate interview.

He explained that another factor that resulted in the huge amount of savings is that the Provincial Government has equipment to finish the project earlier than the scheduled date.

"We can derive savings on personnel from there alone because the projects are completed earlier," said Mendez.
