Friday, December 22, 2006 Vice guv pushes Con-Con By Maricar O. Aranas
NEGROS Oriental Vice Governor Jose Baldado was pleased by the move of the House of Representatives to endorse Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) as a way of amending the Constitution.
House Speaker Jose de Venecia has announced that Congress will push for Con-Con after abandoning its previous endorsement of Con-Ass.
Baldado said he has been campaigning for Con-Con as a way to change the Charter because this will give every Filipino equal right to choose the most competent representative to Con-Con.
He added that the representative is supposed to represent the voice of the people in the grassroots.
However, Benaldo is doubtful as to when the Con-Con will be held by congress.
He said the convention will be best held after the elections in May 2007.
Baldado said to have a Con-Con now is not a good timing since the country is still suffering from the effects of typhoons and busy preparing for the election next year.
