PNP Provincial Director Melvin Ramon Buenafe told media that they are looking at other angles to lead the possible identification of the killers.
Buenafe admitted thought that the police in Zamboanguita is still facing blank wall for possible identification of the suspects.
Police probers, he said, are looking the possibility of personal grudges and illegal drug trade conflict.
A well known drug suspect in Dumaguete City was killed in Zamboanguita town Wednesday morning.
The victim Noel Edgar Alabata Sr., 46, of Calindagan, Dumaguete City, died on the spot while his companion Ariston Encilay, 34, of Bangcolotan, Mayabon, Zamboanguita died seconds after he tried to escape the killers.
Zamboanguita chief of police Donald Gadingan believed that the killers are professional hitmen.
Alabata sustained gunshot wounds on his head causing his instantaneous death.
Witness Mario Catino, tricycle driver of Sitio Catuba-an, Mayabon, Zamboanguita told probers that at around 8 a.m. on January 3, he was driving his passenger motorcab when he was stopped by Alabata who was also riding a motorcycle with backrider Encilay.
Alabata told him to pick-up his cargoes along Sitio Kapaguhan.
Upon reaching corner Luna Extension and a trail road going to the coastal area of Zamboanguita, two persons wearing white long sleeves covered his face with white t-shirt. The two came out from hiding the coconut trees and suddenly shot Alabata and Encilay several times to death.
The killers immediately fled away towards West direction riding a Honda XLR motorcycle passing the trial road going to Magsaysay Street in Barangay Poblacion.
The victims' bodies were brought to Siaton District Hospital for post mortem exam.
Police here tried to conduct a hot pursuit operation against the killers.
"Police in Dauin and Siaton has not spotted in their area the motorcycle used by the killers," said Gadingan.
The chief of police here believed that killers might be proceeding to hinterland areas.
The police recovered nine empty shells of caliber 45 in the crime scene.
