Village chiefs alarm on continued rainfall
By Syril Repe

ALL barangay officials in the province are alerted of a possible disaster brought by the continuous downpour of heavy rains.

Sun.Star Network Online's 12th Asean Summit Watch

Provincial Board Member Arturo Umbac said all residents living near flood and landslide prone areas should transfer to safer grounds.

Umbac is now concerned with the residents' safety after hearing reports of unexpected calamities that affected hundreds of residents in other provinces.

Umbac said it's better to be ready than to be sorry when there is no more time to prepare.

He added the province is not exempted in calamities because there are areas that are flood prone especially in the third and second districts in the province.

There are areas in the province that can be dangerous for landslides.

Although no typhoon has been reported yet, the heavy downpour of rains can loosen the soil that might cause landslides.

Umbac said he has instructed the barangay officials in the hinterland barangays to immediately communicate to the Provincial Government if they will notice an abnormal weather conditions.

He also assured the public that the Provincial Government is ready to respond to any disaster that might affect the local people.

However, residents living near the riverbanks, landslide, and flood prone areas are advised to immediately transfer to safer ground before any untoward incidents will happen.
