THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Oriental Negros has installed 88 farmer beneficiaries of Valmayor Hermanos Inc. in Canlaon City.
Dr. Ramon Valmayor, president of Valmayor Hermanos, personally handed the certificate of land ownership award (CLOA) to Paterno Malinaw, CLOA president, according to DAR information officer Aileen Alaban.
Valmayor also encouraged the farmer beneficiaries to make the land productive and take care of it the same way that the Valmayors, the former landowners, have taken care of it.
The landholding has a total area of 115.6563 hectares, planted with sugarcane, rice, corn, commercial trees and coffee.
It was the second time Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Grace Fua witnessed a landowner voluntarily handing over titles of his lot since she took over the post.
"I am truly happy to see Dr. Valmayor, the landowner himself, handing the CLOA to our FBs. I'm touched every time I see landowners participating in this kind of activity which normally we do not have. He is one great example indeed," Fua said.
Fua then reminded the beneficiaries of their rights and obligations as the new landowners of the property.
DAR Central Visayas Director Datu Yusoph Mama also attended the installation, representing DAR Secretary Nasser Pangandaman.
Mama similarly expressed his gratitude to Valmayor for attending the activity. The installation was also witnessed by Canlaon Municipal Agrarian Reform Officer Roy Bautista, PARO I Pacifico Quindo Jr., CARP Officer Paulino Tudlasan Jr., of the DAR Regional Office, and the staff of DARMO Canlaon and DAR provincial office.
