She said the mayor's health condition is now stable and he may be discharged from the hospital anytime this week.
Salma's attending physician Dr. Julius Ligo also confirmed the mayor is recovering and would probably be out of the hospital by next week.
The mayor's wife said her husband's condition may be due to stress during the campaign sorties.
In fact, she said Salma is still worrying about the campaign sorties of his son Neil Salma, who is seeking the post that his father will be vacating this May.
She said the mayor is planning to schedule a get-together this weekend with allied barangay chiefs.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Teves has assumed office since Monday afternoon after consulting with Provincial Legal Officer Erwin Vergara.
Vergara confirmed that Teves indeed sought his legal advice before assuming office as acting mayor.
Quoting the local government code, Provincial Interior Government Officer Jofralito Lorico also said in the absence of the mayor, the vice mayor shall automatically take over as acting mayor after the fourth day of absence.
Vergara also stressed that they did not go to the hospital where Salma was confined to "harass" the patient as earlier reported. Instead, Vergara said he and Lorico went there last week to check whether the mayor was still confined after reports came out that he was already released last Saturday.
