He said the Comelec registration board has de-listed voters who are already dead, convicted by court, considered incompetent due to insanity, failed to vote in two successive regular elections, lost their Filipino citizenship, excluded from voting through a court order, and those who registered twice for the election.
After the de-listing, two municipalities in the 2nd district showed a marked drop in its number of voters despite the continued registration of Comelec.
Comelec records show that the number of registered voters in Amlan town has decreased to 11,717 from 11,818 in the 2004 elections.
In Mabinay town, the number of voters also dropped to about a thousand from 33, 013 in 2004 to 32,139.
At the national level, Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento said a total of 1.13 million "unscrupulous" voters were de-listed, bringing down to 45.5 million the number of qualified voters for the May poll.(PIA)
