Friday, August 10, 2007 House owner stabbed to death by boarder By Syril G. Repe
A HOUSE owner was stabbed dead by his boarder after a heated argument ensued during a drinking season in Barangay Motong Wednesday evening.
Police Officer 3 Alfredo Kuhay Jr., desk investigator, identified the victim as Leoncio Cadalso, 60, married, who sustained a stab wound on his left chest. The suspect was also identified by the witnesses as Ronie Tolomea, 30, single, a native of Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
Kuhay said around 8:45 p.m., Cadalso and Tolomea started their drinking spree at the porch of the house. After a bottle of beer, a heated argument happened leading to the stabbing of the victim and the suspect escaping on his motorcycle.
Responding police operatives and scene of the crime personnel saw the victim lying on floor dead.
The police conducted a manhunt operation to arrest the suspect but failed.
At around 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the suspect surrendered himself at the Dumaguete Police Office.
Police said Tolomea owned up to the crime, lamenting that during their drinking session the victim raised the issue on his rental and the house rules.
Tolomea said the argument started and suddenly Cadalso pulled out his weapon and hacked him. He managed to evade it and timely pulled out his knife and stabbed the victim.
The suspect is now detained at the Dumaguete detention cell and charges will be filed in court.
