6th Governor's Cup basketball tournament showdown

THE Province of Negros Oriental through the provincial sports office once more held a yearly sports activity for the youth, which the opening salvo was held at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center last Saturday Morning.

Provincial Sports Officer Buddy Ravello said the tournament started during the time of Governor George P. Arnaiz and was continued by Governor Emilio Macias.

Arnaiz said he continues to support sports tournaments that help the young ones.

Ravello stressed that the tournament is open to all school in the province from elementary, high school, and collegiate division.

The teams from the elementary category joined the tournament lead by ABC-learning, Catherina Cittadini-Saint Loui School, Foundation University Elementary School, Boloc-boloc Elementary School, Holy Cross Elementary School, Magsaysay Elementary School, St. Louis Don Bosco.

On the other hand, nine teams in the high school junior category were also seeing action and 21 teams in the high school senior division vied for a crown.

Seven teams in the college division battled each other for the 2007 inter- school basketball tourney lead by Silliman University, Colegio De Sta Catalina de Alejandrea, AMA computer College, Saint Paul University, Foundation University, ACSAT Lightnings, and Negros Oriental State University.

Ravello said a tournament aimed at helping the youth keep busy in sports and away from illegal activities especially drugs.
