Sunday, August 19, 2007 Cruztelco: No compromise agreement filed By Edmund B. Sestoso
THE management of Cruz Telephone Company (Cruztelco) admitted that it had not submitted a compromise agreement with Capitol because Governor Emilio Macias II has not agreed to the proposals they made earlier.
“The proposal to submit a compromise agreement was predicted on the assumption that Governor Macias would agree to the earlier proposal of Cruztelco. Apparently, he did not, hence no compromise agreement can be filed,” Frederick Bustamante, legal counsel of Cruztelco, told the Regional Trial Court.
Cruztelco management, through Bustamante, said that during then governor George Arnaiz’s term their representatives, Engineer Norberto Bernad and Abraham Bernardez, had agreed on mechanics of the lot purchase presently occupied by Cruztelco and was sent to the Provincial Board for its final approval.
The firm said they did not know what happened after on that agreement.
The Provincial Board, however, denied it received a proposed compromise agreement.
But Bustamante explained that he got information from Arnaiz who wanted to negotiate more for he is not satisfied with the previous arrangement.
Earlier, Presiding Judge Marie Rose Paras had scolded lawyers of both parties after failing to attend a scheduled hearing despite formal notices sent.
