Wednesday, August 29, 2007 Capitol's development plan centers on family By Edmund B. Sestoso
NEGROS Oriental Governor Emilio Macias II has a unique way of drafting his administration's three-year development plan, one that surprisingly centers on the family.
The plan's direction is to provide equal opportunities to families to elevate the quality of lives they have now.
Governor Macias said family concerns are integrated into whatever projects undertaken within the plan.
The three-year plan has 12 components and these are: food security; health; livelihood and employment; education; infrastructure; environment; social concerns; peace and order; sound budget management; research and development; information dissemination; and spiritual development.
The governor said the plan would introduce new appropriate programs, fortify support, and sustain and improve existing provincial development projects to cope with the changing needs.
Macias further said that in targeting the family, the plan is a tool to be used by his administration to measure and monitor its performance level.
"It (the plan) shall also set parameters as indicators to determine whether ornot government falls short of its objectives and focus," he said.
