EU officials laud LGUs on solid waste management
By Edmund Sestoso

TOP officials of the European Commission laud several local government units in Negros Oriental for good handling and addressing of the solid waste problems in their respective areas.

Serge Guilomme, EU community evaluator, said LGUs had been exerting efforts at addressing their garbage problems in their respective localities.

Online memorial for Cebu's Nenita "Inday Nita" Daluz. Post testimonials here.

Guilomme was around when the Provincial Government conducted a Capability Enhancement Training on Waste Management held in Dumaguete City.

The project is funded by the European Union-Philippine Economic Cooperation Small Project Facility and by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources Director Mercy Teves stressed that the project aims to strengthen the technical capability of the provincial and local staff directly involved in solid waste management program.

He added that the training also endeavors to motivate communities and encourage active participation in program implementation.

Multi-sectoral groups had been actively participating in the series of enhancement and capability trainings on solid waste management programs.
