8 teams make it to 2nd round of inter-barangay basketball
By Syril G. Repe

ABOUT 27 teams joined the 2007 Kagawad Boni Catarata Inter-Barangay Memorial Cup Basketball tournament but only eight survived the first round.

They would be competing against each other in the second round of the tournament, which is slated next week.

City sports officer Jose Guirit said the teams that qualified for the second round are: Looc, Camanjac, Motong, Pulantubig, Piapi, Bantayan, Bajumpandan, and Talay.

Last year's champion, Barangay Looc, hopes to hold on to the crown and capture another championship trophy.

Barangay Piapi, last year's second runner-up, has also set its eyes on the crown.

Guirit said the top four teams will qualify for the semi-final round.
