Both the city’s executive and legislative departments have unified their position and came up with the new seal as embodied under an ordinance.

Guihulngan recently attained its cityhood status and now operates under Republic Act No. 9409.

Guihulngan Mayor Ernesto Reyes said the new city seal also depicts and reflects the mission and vision of the new city with every component integrated carrying a meaning.

The rope symbolizes the new city’s infinite unity in attaining its vision and mission, three stars represents Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao; sun rays symbolizes the city’s concern in realizing and attaining the necessary services to the people; electric posts and roads symbolizes the energy and infrastructure needed for tourism purpose; while the mountain symbolizes its potential tourist spots and the dove means peace that engulfs the hearts and minds of its people as they welcome the birth of cityhood.

The 33 gears found in the seal represents the 33 barangays that grind in unity of purpose and direction and the crops symbolizes the agricultural livelihood of the people while the carabao serves as a reminder that from the town converted into a city, it is agricultural sector that helps the economic development.

While the Roro vessel found on the seal symbolizes the commitment of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to Guihulngan in donating a sizable amount for the construction of a Roro port in Barangay Bulado that paved way to the Nautical Highway Program of her administration.

The other symbols integrated in the seal include buildings and schools, RA No. 9409, the three colors of the Philippine flag and the 2007 that are written on the seal.
