DAUIN, Negros Oriental -- The Municipality of Dauin is building a unique hot and cold spring in the upland barangay of Baslay to attract more tourists.
Mayor Rodrigo Alanano said the municipal government has set aside P150,000 for the project which started last year with the support of former 3rd district representative Herminio Teves and former 2nd district representative and now governor Emilio Macias II, who allocated an undisclosed amount to fully develop the site.
Alanano added that the hot and cold spring ca draw an average of 300-400 local and foreign bathers monthly because of the spring's healing substance.
The mayor said there are some foreign tourists who are now building houses within a few kilometers from the hot and cold spring, which he considers as an indicator that more tourist influx is expected.
This, Alanano further said, will continue to make Dauin as a potential tourist destination in the world.
