Tuesday, November 13, 2007 P150M pledged for hospital, convention center By Edmund B. Sestoso
PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has pledged to extend P150 million assistance for both the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital and the Negros Oriental Convention Center, said Governor Emilio Macias II.
Macias told members of the media that he is now following it up with Malacañang for the early release of the amount.
P50 million will go to the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) for the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital while the P100 million is for the completion of the construction of a hotel, as part of the facilities and amenities of the Negros Oriental Convention Center.
The convention center was a project of Representative George Arnaiz when he was the governor of the province.
Adrian Sedillo, Capitol’s public information officer, said the acquisition of the MRI hospital equipment will somehow complete the hospital diagnostic center.
Presently, Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital has already acquired mammogram, CT scan, and the dialysis machine.
Governor Macias said Arroyo’s help for the hotel construction will save the Provincial Government from borrowing money from the bank.
The P100 million will be taken from the President’s Social Fund (PSF) while the P50 million was sourced from the Department of Health.
