Tuesday, November 13, 2007 More runners to join Fiesta marathon By Syril G. Repe
MORE runners from other parts of the country, along with the marathon enthusiasts and road runners of the city are expected to participate in the Dumaguete City half-marathon next week.
The half-marathon is a fun event where the public is welcome to participate, either as recreational fun-walkers or competitive runners, said Paul Paras, Events Coordinator of the Metro-Dumaguete Roadrunners Club (MDRC).
The half-marathon is envisioned to be the grandest sports tourism event in the province, which require organizers 15 months to set things in motion in staging a 21-kilometer road race on the eve of the city’s Charter Day on November 24.
Marathon and running advocates will be coming from Manila, Cebu, Bacolod, Bohol, and from Northern Mindanao cities of Cagayan de Oro and Davao.
An entry fee of P275 is set for competitive runners who will be entitled to a t-shirt, certificate, and race packet containing race numbers, safety pins, and printed copy of the race route.
