Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Surgical mission successful in Siquijor
SIQUIJOR -- A total of 47 major and 82 manor surgical operations were performed recently at the Siquijor Provincial Hospital by a composite team of doctors from the AY Foundations, Inc. (AYF) based in Makati City.
Breakdown of cases include: 15 thyroidectomy, 4 repair of cleft lip and palate, 1 excision of submandibular gland, 1 excision of thyroglossal duct cyst, 6 herniorrhaphy, 9 myoma uteri, 1 endometrial polyp, 3 ovarian cyst, 3 fistulectomy, 2 cholecystectomy, 1 excision of Bardholin's cysts, 1 excision of Baker's cysts.
The 82 minor operations involved excision of cysts of assorted sizes in various areas of face, body, and extremities.
A total number of 27 doctors of various surgical and medical specialties, 1 OR nurse, 3 AYF staff members arrived in 4 batches to carry out the surgical mission.
They had the full support of the Provincial Government of Siquijor spearheaded by Governor Orlando A. Fua Jr., Provincial Board, Philippine National Red Cross (Sqiuijor Chapter), PROSIELCO, Metro Siquijor Water District, Siquijor Army Reserved Command, municipal government units for case findings, religious organizations, and local print and TV media.
