THE Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), the Metropolitan Integrated Local Health Zone, and the Dumaguete City government formally launched the "Healthy Public Market" at the market auditorium of Building 2 with fitting ceremonies last Thursday morning.
Those who attended the launching are the initiator Dr. Fidencio G. Aurelia, the executive director of Metropolitan Inter Local Health Zone, City Administrator Dominador Dumalag Jr., Market Supervisor Engineer Jose Ronnie Fortin, City Health Officer Dr. Sarah Talla, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Antonio Mutia and a hosts of several government officials.
Dr. Aurelia is also the incumbent chairman of the Healthy Market Program.
Attending the activity are also the leaders of the market vendors groups, the food handlers, the eateries and several establishments situated in the public market.
To highlight the program, a formal ribbon cutting was made. There was also a blessing of ground and stalls.
Aurelia said the launching marks the beginning of a change of the society and a change in making Dumaguete being a healthy public market.
"I feel the concerned and responsibility to pursue and follow through the covenant that we had earlier made" regarding the promotion of the healthy lifestyle program.
Aurelia added that the launching of Healthy Public Market marks the series of advocacy and promotions.
Dumalag called on the stakeholders at the Dumaguete Public Market to help work towards realization of a market place that is fully healthy and that would redound to the wellness of the people.
Another highlight of the program is the pledge of commitment by the presidents of the Dumaguete Market Vendors. All stakeholders who were around during the launching recited another pledge of commitment.
