Lacson: Philippines no. 1 in 'corruption' in Asia
By Joan L. Butalid

IT IS only in the Philippines that public money is wasted left and right, said Senator Panfilo Lacson Thursday in Dumaguete City.

Lacson, keynote speaker during the opening ceremony of the 2008 National MDG Summit held at Silliman University boardroom, said this during a press conference.

He said Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials have to be taught values because they are being trained to become politicians.

Also present during the press conference were Dr. Francis Kong, CEO of Fun Works; Colin Davis, UN Representative; Nileema Noble; Dr. Ben Malayang, III, SU president.

Lacson proposed a program to distribute fuel discount coupons to public utility drivers only. This is to ensure that the maximum effect of the one percent tariff cut on oil products will benefit only those who need it most.
