Tuesday, February 19, 2008 Power consumers elect 3 directors By Victor L. Camion
THE Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (Noreco 2) in Dumaguete City has elected three Board of Directors (BODs) representing the newly created districts.
Noreco 2 Institutional Service Department Manager Leovigildo Elmaco told Sun.Star that the redistricting of power sector in Dumaguete City is mandated by the board resolution approved during last year's general assembly.
Only one BOD in the person of lawyer Pinky Dicen Tagle represented Dumaguete City to more than 18,000 power consumers here.
Tagle lauded the creation of additional districts because the funding intended for Dumaguete City is not enough considering that among the Noreco 2 districts, Dumaguete City has a larger number of power consumers.
She explained that sharing of funds is equally divided for each district.
Tagle was re-elected as BOD Saturday, but unlike her first term, she is now representing district 4.
District 4 covers barangays of Bunao, Camanjac, Batinguel, Candau-ay, Balugo, Cadawinonan, Bajumpandan, Talay, Junob, Cantil-e, and Pulantubig.
District 3, on the other hand, covers the north district of Dumaguete City.
Retired Police Colonel Constatino Sayson was elected as BOD to represent the power consumers in barangays Motong, Daro, Bantayan, Piapi, Looc and eight poblacion barangays in the city.
BOD-elect Ricardo Maputi, on the other hand, will represent the power consumers in District 5, which cover the south district of Dumaguete City, particularly barangays Taclobo, Tabuctubig, Bagacay, Mangnao, Calindagan, and Banilad.
