POLICE Senior Police Superintendent Leofoldo Cabanag will be sworn in as Dumaguete City Police Office chief in simple turnover ceremonies Tuesday.
Cabanag led the Dumaguete police's campaign against street crimes after the then City Police Chief Dionardo Carlos filed a leave of absence to see to some family concerns in Metro Manila.
Cabanag came from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office and was the police chief of Guihulngan before he was assigned to the province.
Outgoing Police Superintendent Carlos said he is willing to accept an extension of service as requested by Mayor Agustin Perdices, but because of his personal obligations to his family who are in Metro Manila he decided to accept a post at the national Office hopefully as an information officer.
Carlos said he wishes to come back to Dumaguete with his family when he retires because the city is a nice place to live in.
Expected to attend the turnover ceremonies are Provincial Police Director Melvin Buenafe, the business community, religious group, media, non-government organizations, Perdices and other city officials.
