Thursday, March 13, 2008 Bais village folks to see light at end of day By Edmund B. Sestoso
MORE than 200 households in the Katakgahan and Talungon villages in Bais City who have lived in "total darkness" for several years may soon see light at the end of the day.
This will be materialized through an aggressive electrification program pushed for by Representative George Arnaiz.
It was learned that Arnaiz turned over a check worth P2 million to the Negros Oriental 1 Electric Cooperative (Noreco) through general manager Angelito Carriaga for the electrification project.
The lawmaker said he facilitated the release of the money from the National Electrification Administration recently.
The project will benefit some 200 hundred families in Sitio Sarya, Barangay Katakgahan and Talungon Extension, Barangay Talungon of Bais City.
Arnaiz said the project will have a chain effect on the city's economy.
Students also can study better now because electricity would be available in many households.
Meanwhile, another P800,000 was given by Arnaiz to Noreco 1 for the streetlights of Sitio Tiki, Barangay Himukdungon, Mabinay town.
Arnaiz is hopeful that the change in their community could also help change the livelihood of the residents of the place.
