TWO hours after Dumaguete City Police Chief Leopoldo Cabanag assumed office on Tuesday, three robbers took P300,000 from a cashier of RCPI-Western Union's Dumaguete City branch.
Police identified the victim as Henidina Nocete, 32, married, a resident of Barangay Looc.
Nocete said she boarded a pedicab after withdrawing money from a bank along Colon Street. They were hailed by motorcycle-riding gunmen as they were nearing Sta. Catalina Street.
Two of the suspects armed with handguns approached her and demanded her cash money.
After the incident, police warned the public against bringing large amounts of money in public.
Meanwhile, police are still determining the identity of a man who hanged himself inside a tanod outpost in Barangay Looc, Sibulan town.
The man was between 20-30 years old, wearing white shirt, fair in complexion, and with tattoos in both hands.
