Couple shot, husband died

MABINAY, Negros Oriental -- A 37-year-old farmer died on the spot before his wife's eyes after unidentified gunmen broke into their home while the couple were busy preparing for dinner at their kitchen.

It was past 8 p.m. Wednesday when the incident took place in Barangay Samak, Mabinay town.

Police identified the victims as Nestor Jamoso and Filca Jamoso.

Police initial investigation said the victims were at the kitchen when the attackers shot them with a .45 caliber pistol.

The farmer was hit several times and died instantly.

His wife, who was also hit, was immediately rushed to the Mabinay district hospital for medical attention.

The police recovered from the crime scene eight empty shells of a caliber.45 pistol and a slug.

The Mabinay police have yet to determine the motive for the shooting. (Syril G. Repe)
