Saturday, March 15, 2008 Police chief to enforce helmet use
SIBULAN, Negros Oriental -- Police Senior Inspector Errol Garchitorena will enforce the strict implementation of the law requiring motorists to wear helmets.
Chief Garchitorena said that in line with the order of Mayor Antonio Renacia, police are to enforce the law on the use of helmets.
This, Garchitorena said, will protect motorcycle riders from possible road accidents.
According to the police chief, most deaths result from head injuries sustained during road accidents.
The ordinance of Sibulan town requiring all motorists to wear helmets when traveling in a motorcycle was passed September of last year.
Garchitorena said violators of the law would be dealt with accordingly.
He urged motorists to wear helmets not only when passing Sibulan town but all the time while they are in transit. This, he said, is for safety reasons. (SGR)
