Tuesday, March 18, 2008 Dumaguete police to monitor fraternities
THE Dumaguete City Police Office is monitoring two rival fraternity groups in the city, the Bloods and Creeps, after youngsters believed to be members of a fraternity attacked two youngsters who were out jogging on Saturday morning.
Dave Ian Torre and Francisco Bantoto, both minors and residents of Habitat-2 in Barangay Bajmupandan told police they were jogging from their residence to the town center when they met several youngsters on motorcycles near the Shell gasoline station in Barangay Mangnao.
One of those in the motorcycles shouted that the two joggers were members of Creeps. The motorcycles then turned around and headed for the jobbers.
One of those riding on the motorcycle pulled out a knife and stabbed Torre. The knife tore his t-shirt, but did not hit him.
Bystanders rushed to the joggers' rescue.
The fraternity groups Bloods and Creeps signed during the time of former police chief Dionardo Carlos a peace agreement to end their war and help maintain peace and order.
The two groups had since returned, disturbing the city's peace and order through their wars and conflicts. (SGR)
