Sedillo said the various games in the Olympics here would be held in different selected venues in the province.

Provincial Sports Coordinator Buddy Ravello has announced the addition of more sports events in the Visayas Qualifying Games during a meeting called upon by Governor Emilio Macias.

The meeting was attended by representatives of different colleges and universities including Norsu President Dr. Henry Sojor and Aparicio Mequi of Foundation University. Representatives from Saint Paul University and Silliman University, Department of Education (DepEd) and other private schools in Dumaguete City were also there for the meeting. Mayor Tony Renacia of Sibulan, and members of the Sports Facilities Board of Management also graced the affair.

Negros Oriental was chosen by the Philippine Olympics Committee (POC) to host the Visayas leg of the Qualifying Games for the region.

It bested all other possible venues in the region namely Cebu, Leyte, Ilo-Ilo and Negros Occidental.

The Philippine Olympics Festival was initiated to serve as a venue for the discovery of new and fresh talents to represent the country in the 2012 Olympics. (With Press release)
