All strikers offered work with Prudential
By Victor L. Camion

PORT workers affiliated with Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) will end their strike soon.

ALU-TUCP vice president Sopreano Sabanal told Sun.Star that the management of Prudential Customs Brokerage Services, Inc. (PCBSI) has offered to absorb all union members with several conditions.

PCBSI is the new-cargo handling operator of the Dumaguete port.

Sabanal said the PCBSI will absorb all union members provided that end their strike as soon as possible and agree not to exercise union activities during their employment.

He said the union welcomes the offer but asks for time to study it. The union is set to meet to discuss the offer.

Union district coordinator Felizardo Calimpong, however, has yet to learn about the offer.

He said the port police, through operation head Chief Insp. Roger Alfaraz, has just informed him about the new development.

Calimpong, on the other hand, said if the offer is true, then it is a victory for the union.

He said this is what the union wants. He is waiting for the official offer.

PCBSI lawyer Joel Obar, however, said he has no idea about the offer.
